The 5 Tantrum Types Response System
Your toddler isn't having one kind of tantrum. You're using one response for five different ones.
A hungry meltdown and a boundary test look identical — and need opposite responses. This $17 pocket PDF tells you which type you're in, and exactly what to say.

Try it first
Tap the tantrum you saw last. The response changes.
Name the pattern, and you already know your first move.
Likely pattern
The Overwhelmer
Do first: fewer words, lower stimulation, stay nearby.
Don't say: "Use your words."
Sound familiar?
You did the "right" thing. It still blew up.
The wrong cup. The checkout line. The bedtime delay. You stayed calm — and it lasted 40 minutes anyway.
"I stayed calm. He got louder."
"The script worked once, then failed."
"I need something I can use while I'm overwhelmed."
It was never about more patience. You were handed one script for five different situations.
The framework
Almost every tantrum is one of five patterns.
Each has a wrong move that pours fuel on it — and a right one that doesn't.
The Overwhelmer
Screaming, full-body sobbing, can't reason yet.
Don't: explain or ask questions.
Do: reduce input, co-regulate, short script.
The Boundary Tester
Arguing, bargaining, escalating when you waver.
Don't: over-explain or negotiate.
Do: warm limit, fewer words, follow through.
The Disconnector
Hides, shuts down, pushes you away.
Don't: demand eye contact or talking.
Do: move closer, lower pressure, easy repair.
The Hangry / Tired
Irrational blowups before meals, naps, bedtime.
Don't: treat a body need like defiance.
Do: meet the need, shrink the demand.
The Transition Hater
Loses it leaving the park, ending screens, bedtime.
Don't: abrupt switches, repeated warnings.
Do: preview, bridge, concrete next step.
See your kid in one of these?
That's the easy part. The response is what you're getting.
Show me the scriptsThe part most courses skip
The first script is not the system. The next ten seconds are.
Real tantrums don't end because you found the perfect sentence. So you get the very next move.
How it works
Open the guide. Find the type. Use the card.
Not a course to finish. A system to open mid-meltdown.
Spot the type
A quick guide tells you which of the five you're in.
Say the script
Short phrases, made to read one-handed.
Use the backup move
The exact next step when words don't land.
Repair & track
Reset after you yell; track the pattern.

From the founder
I built this because I was the one yelling.
I'm Mariah — parent of two and a credentialed coach. I didn't build this to give you another philosophy. I built it because parents need something usable in the room, while the meltdown is happening.
It's practical parenting support, not therapy or medical advice — the tool I wish I'd had on the hard nights.

Real tantrums, clearer next moves. Names shortened for privacy.
